Man chill ouuuuuuut :) First there already exists a mailing list for the Merb book, you should move this message there.
That not withstanding: 1) Rails3 does not exist yet. 2) Current line (given the lack of clarity about Rails3) is to use what you *want* to use, as if you didn't know Rails3 existed. Rails2 and Merb1 are still fairly different creatures, and what was true of each ecosystem is still true now. Pick what you want to use (i.e. i just picked Merb for a project i started yesterday). 3) See two. They are not the same creature. Rails3 will not be the same as either. 4) The basic principles behind Merb are going to serve you well in Rails3. There are useful long term things you can learn about Merb. Knowing Rails2 is also going to be useful, because it will be the basis for Rails3's user-facing API. 5) It is difficult to answer that which is not specified There is still a lot of work to do before Rails3 comes to fruition in any meaningful sense. If you want to follow what is going on, you can check out wycats's repo where a lot of the experimentation is taking place. You can also check out the Rails-activism google group, which i believe will be one of the primary places announcements will be flowing from. People are concerned about the state of documentation involved now, and for the future. I know i'm personally investing time in improving the Merb documentation. People who care about merb will hopefully still continue to help out. -Ted On Fri, Jan 9, 2009 at 12:48 AM, SoftMind <[email protected]> wrote: > > For your information:- This thread is based on several comments / > blogs / Forums i have read across many sites.
