Hi Gang, Hammie's having some trouble, this all started last Friday when I was trying to rush home in a hurry. It feels like the car has no power. Now when a 240D feels like it has NO power you know you're in trouble. I drive 40 miles each way to and from work and it seems like its worse the closer to home or work. Today was oil change day and I did the air filter at the same time, the old one was horrible. I don't know if everybody's having the same pollen horrors we are but pollen fell out of the filter like yellow snow. That seems to have helped a little but boy that car is especially pokey, even worse than when I first got it and it was all carboned up. So I got thinking maybe I got a bad tank of fuel, which led me to think about fuel filters which I haven't replaced in 2 years. What should I put on my shopping list there, both fuel filters obviously, but do I need a replacement hollow bolt? Some washers or something?
So I had to fuel up on the way home and I figure I'll put some Diesel Kleen in because the cars always run better and stronger when I put some of that in. When I removed the fuel cap, *whoosh*..... Hmmm, thats interesting. Hammie's always made a little noise when I opened the fuel cap but before it was more of a shhup, short intake. Today's noise was definately more serious. In pondering this I managed to overfill the tank (stupid truck handle) and had to (well I guess I didn't have to but I didn't want to spill a bunch more fuel) put the cap back on. The effect was amazing, it was like a new car. Until I merged back onto the highway... So almost all the way home I opened the cap halfway. I can't say I honestly saw a huge difference but I only drove about a mile so its hard to tell. So where is the tank vent on an '83 240D and how to I make sure its not plugged? Thanks -Curt '83 240D "Hammie" 240kmi __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
