There is NO single correct coolant for every car. Mercedes builds all of their auto engines to use a mid pH coolant with particular characteristics. Many Ford and Chrysler engines (but NOT all) require this formula for best longevity. I know NOTHING about other makes, but recent articles suggest there are 3 broad classes of anti-freeze and different engines require different formulas for best service.
The following article classes GM coolants in one class and EVERYTHING else in another, but I KNOW that Mercedes requires G-05 and other coolant that he lumps together with G-05 are NOT appropriate.
