I think you might be cheating, what with two vacs involved, even if one
of them is a carcass. But as long as you only use maybe half a tube of
caulk, you might still remain under $2.

I'm in the process of converting a dead shopvac into one. After 20
years, my trusty Craftsman shop vac seized up. Put some stuff in it
to unseize it and it started spitting plastic at me, so I gave it last
rites and bought a new one. So far I've removed the old motor and
started sealing up the holes where it was. I'll connect it to the new
shop vac and a hose and give it a try. I figure the shop vac should
be a sturdy enough container and it's made to hold suction anyway.
OBTW...I don't think you want to actually pull a full vacuum on
it...just enough to get suction going.

*Subject:* [MBZ] Topsider (where to buy, what to get)
Hi all,
Well my homemade topsider went belly up last night. Used a bucket
from Home Depot, A vacuum pump and some fittings. Hooked it up to
a vacuum gauges, reaghed about 4"Hg and imploded :(
So unless someone has a better canister I can use cheap, I was
wondering what everybody else uses and where to buy it from.
Thanks
George
