Yep, the 123s are right in the middle of a range of MBs that have switch  
lock up.  You might start by ordering a factory replacement key (using your  
VIN) 
 as your problem may be that your key is  a copy of a copy, etc,  or just 
plain worn out.  A factory key will run about $25 and a factory  cylinder with 
key, cut to your car's specs, is about $100.  Rusty used to  be able to get 
these at the best price but did mine a couple years ago so not up  to speed.  
Do 
not dawdle on this repair, it can bite you to the tune of  $400 if you need to 
have it drilled.
 
Finally, some listers have begun to experience steering wheel lock failure,  
which acts like key/cylinder failure.  Frequent need to tug on the steering  
wheel to free the lock might be a pre curser of this type of failure.
