Heck Steve, Just think about when I bought that car just outside DC SIGHT UNSEEN for $500 off e-bay with the PO telling me"Go ahead and come here and drive it home, I'll leave the tags and all on it for you if you'll send them back". I did just that though and was just as pleasently surprized as you.....What a history that car could tell if it could talk.

Quirky cars we USED to own? Man, you must be from the Easley list ;-).

Three weeks ago, I drove 5 hours, across an international border, to pick up
a 23-year-old Mercedes from in front of the owner's house, when said owner
was away.

I then spent almost two hours convincing the Canada Customs Nazis that, yes indeedy, I actually paid $100 for it. No foolin, ossifer. (Did not help that I arrived a half hour behind some poor twit with a Rambler American, in tow
with Cali plates, who had no paperwork for the car. MAN did he get stomped
on before they let him leave.)

Quirky? Heck, if there is any, absolutely ANY harder way to buy a car, tell
me about it and I will probably try it.

So not only have I bought two very quirky cars (2x 240Ds) in the last two
months or so, but I've staked claim to the weirdest way of acquiring them.
So there.

No offense, but since when was it madness to discuss the "quirky" cars we all

STOP THE MADNESS.

I can't believe that a comment a week ago about owning a Vega has
resulted in
this discussion. Anyone want to talk about Linux?

I always preferred those Monza coupes, particularly the ones they squeezed
the 305 into.
