Well, when braking the tire flattens and full contact is attained.
And tire roll is minimized. And these autocross runs last about
50-60 secs. and speeds rarely reach 50 mph. Most of the time one is
trying to minimize distance by close cornering at the cones. A
saying in autocross circles is "slower is faster". Faster speeds
result in travelling longer distances when cornering in my experience.

Will be going to the MBCA StarFest 2008 driving events at the
Thunderhill Raceway Park in Willows, CA and see how well I remember
all that I once knew. It's been several years since I've driven at
speed. Thunderhill is a 3 mile road course..... The events are Time
Trials, Autocross and Standing 1/4 Acceleration Runs.

Take care,

Chuck
