I think you've hit on something with the news coverage. Ever sit and watch CNN, or the others for a couple of hours? You end up feeling anxious and worried. They report 95% "bad news" all the time. I stopped watching all that crap about 2 years ago. I was something of a news junkie before then. Overall I think I have a much better outlook on life. Happy ignorance? Maybe. My mom still has CNN on almost 24x7 and she worries about everything.
