My 300D 2.5t is in the shop for similar symptoms-it gets hot when AC is on
during hot day and not moving, etc. Needs coolant servicing and Indy will
check fan clutch.

Yeah I had it replaced right when I got the car but I haven't had time to
replace with the proper stuff....

It probably does need a radiator too but it doesn't ever overheat when its
moving, only when sitting still and the fan doesn't turn hardly at all...

Has the engine had the green anti-freeze in it? With one exception
(the SDL), all of the MBs I've bought that have had the green stuff
have needed new radiators within two years. I've replaced thermostats,
flushed with citric acid, replaced fan clutches, had the radiator
cleaned and "rebuilt", but a new radiator was the only thing that
brought the temps in line. YMMV ---

adding
oil I noticed that the PO had siliconed the fan to the clutch. I poked

and when the engine is hot there is DEFINATELY power at the clutch. The car
will

is
needing a coolant flush which will happen once I get the Quantum but in the
