Well, he did not go looking for an MB so not likely to turn his attention to 99 
and newer. The only reason he is
buying is because it is his brother in law's car and he bought it new and is 
now moving up to another new one.
Wayne is interested because he knows the whole history of the car and it is 
being offered at what he considers a
good price.

So how does one check the spring perch rust issue? I believe I recall it is not 
all that easy to tell.

Yes on the rust. Not sure about the harness. The 99 and beyond is more
desirable because of 6 airbags, traction control, and optional
stability control.
