The usual 220V welder plug is something like a 30A small version of
a clothes drier plug. 10-gauge (30A) wire at a minimum, my welder
(and range, and RV, it's a triplet installation) uses 8-gauge (40A)
wire. I backfeed Big Bertha through one of these plugs when I'm
running the house on that generator. Poor little 140A generator
is limited to a 40A feed!
