I am letting (sic -- more like suggesting) Debbie drive more and more on
extended trips -- defined as in excess of 90 minutes. We are perhaps
practicing for some future time when I have to turn in my license and she
doesn't, since I am 11 years her senior.

I "survive" this by simply not looking out of the windshield. I either check
on how the corn is growing or, if the daughter is with us, plant the
daughter in the front seat and crawl into the back seat with a good book.

Debbie is probably a better driver than I am. (How many husbands will admit
that?) However, having originally picked up my license in 1968, I have a
couple of decades experience in having the steering wheel in *my* hands
rather than being the passenger.

I do have one thing up on her, though -- she has NO interest in getting a
motorcycle endorsement. When it is two-wheel time, she is perfectly content
to sit on the back and let me do the leaning in corners, while SHE checks
out the corn.
