What I like about the older MB's is that MOST of the connectors
are those snap-apart bakelite jobs that never fail, and can be
replaced if they do.  Those wretched molded jobs are fine, until
they're not.  Then you're in this boat.

It's ugly.  You could try to cut apart the connector head to liberate
the pins, then solder on new cable, then put the pins into the mate
(for positioning) and start carefully building up a blob body out of
Shoe Goo or the like.  Tres ugly, and requires much patience and
care.  Won't ever look like much.
