I found a forum discussion where somebody said "nylon", but I couldn't find the
stuff on Griot's web site at all. In home plumbing, I've seen it connected in
two ways.
1. Crimp on metal clamps over the joints, like in A/C or power steering lines.

2. Add a ring of slightly larger PEX at the end of the hose for reinforcement,
and stick the hose end on a machine that stretches it larger, then shove it on
the barb fitting before it contracts. This is really slick, but the hydraulic
spreader is expensive and I don't know where to rent one. I checked one brand
of
PEX just now, and it is rated at 160 psi at 73 degrees and 100 psi at 180
degrees. Just a little weak for a two stage compressor, I wonder what black
poly
is rated at? (I just checked, the heavy wall irrigation tubing for sprinkler
systems is rated at 125psi with cold water, so PEX is superior)
