Faeth tells us in re: E85 and my question "How many E85 vehicles are around,
anyway?"

...only every dodge caravan I have ever seen is flex fuel. a few years
ago, that (dodge caravans) was about 25% of the vehicles on the
road....

25% of the vehicles on the road are Dodge Caravans?? What planet do you live
on?

...there are quite a few options for us to buy e85, and every pump at every
station in Iowa and many in surrounding states has e10..

Of course there are. Iowa is the ethanol state. In fact, there are 88 E85
stations in Iowa. And E10 is not in this discussion because just about every
car
built in the last 25 years for the US market can use E10 while any vehicle
that can use E85 must have a very different fuel system. This may be news to
you.

...If you happen to live in a parochial (definition 3) corner of the country,
it does not mean the rest of the country is like your part. This IS a big
country....

Your suggestion that Washington is "parochial" because it isn't in the center
of the country and therefore is just somehow not up to speed with Iowa is
amusing because there are a few more "parochial" (your term) states that are
just
as backward in re: number of E85 stations. For example:

Washington-6
Oregon-4
CALIFORNIA-6
Nevada-7
Arizona-8
FLORIDA-3
NEW YORK-3

And a few in your neck of the woods:

Minnesota-287
Illinois-171
Wisconsin-68
Nebraska-33

It appears that the State of Iowa is going to force all stations that cannot
sell E85 because of equipment limitations to change over, offering money to do
so.

"The number of stations offering E85 is expected to double in a little over a
year as service stations are being offered incentives from Government and
Ethanol Industry grants up to $30,000 to install E85 Fuel pumps. Iowa is launc
hing an initiative that will require all gas retailers make their equipment
compatible with the latest generation of ethanol: fuel that is 85 percent
ethanol,
15 percent gas within 2 years. That's huge news for E85, and consumers in Iowa
that drive E85 Vehicles."
