It turns into carbon dioxide when the bugs eat it, and goes into the air to raise global temperatures and melt the ice caps and kill all manner of living things. So when you wash your car you are killing the planet. But if you send Al Gore money it will make it better.

I tried to wash my cars where the runoff would go on the grass, the soap seems to have a beneficial effect, or at least not a bad effect, and the water does double duty. The soaps are bio-degradable, cause no harm.

It sounds like they're just telling people not to let the runoff go into a storm drain, not to avoid washing your car. If the water goes onto a lawn, dirt field, sewer, septic tank, etc. the soap will break down before it enters a stream-

Where does the soap go when it "Breaks Down"?
