Put in more carp and catfish! They eat the green stuff and make good eatin' Actually, if things are left alone, I would imagine that some fish species will build populations sufficient to equalize the situation.

Haven't we been told for decades that green is good? Green produces oxygen. Isn't that a good thing?

These aren't soaps, btw, but detergents.  Soap is made
out of oil and a strong base.  Such as animal fat and
lye.  (Re: Granny Clampett's old recipe.)  Detergents
are different, but no less benign.  Detergents _are_
biodegradeable, and that's the problem with runoff.
The detergent acts as a fertilizer for algae in lakes
and rivers.  They love the stuff, but then the algae
gets out of hand causing the problems.
