More likely a plugged trap oxidizer. If there is a large football
shaped thing on the passenger side above the exhaust, take it to a
Mercedes dealer, they will replace the trap oxidizer with a pipe and
install a catalyst under the floor, plus replace the turbo if it is
bad, as it almost always is.
DO NOT remove this yourself, MB does the work for FREE under an
extended warrenty, regardless of the milage.
If that is OK, likely you have plugged fuel filters, or possibly a
stuck open EGR valve (the latter will cause HUGE black clouds of smoke
and very poor initial performance).
