I would start the job with ramps or car on the ground to break free the bolts that hold the axles to the output flanges. You have a long handle 1/2" drive ratchet right? Are you reusing bolts or have new bolts? Do you have the driver for the old bolts and socket for the new? Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry

I was under the assumption I could undo the bolts and give 'em a little yank and they'd come right out. I was planning to put a block or something for the axles to rest on (rather than the ground while I yanked the diff and then just hook 'em back up like nothing had happened. Of course the diff hasn't arrived yet.... Maybe thats fortunate. -Curt --- On Wed, 11/12/08, Jim Cathey <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: From: Jim Cathey <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [MBZ] Do I need To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], "Mercedes Discussion List" <mercedes@okiebenz.com> Date: Wednesday, November 12, 2008, 9:56 PM > Do I need jackstands to do the diff on my 190D or could I do it from ramps? Can't really do it from ramps, because the wheels usually have to come off to liberate the axle shafts. -- Jim _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
