When I was in 5th grade, my NYC school teacher knocked us around (physically) a lot. I distinctly remember him pushing me to the (hard) floor and glowering over me for something I had done (it wasn't anything flagrant that I had committed). After that, the parents banded together and complained to the principal. The errant teacher was sent packing soon thereafter. I even remember the brutish teacher's name - Mr. Osman.
