Even though the digital realm has made dramatic improvements since it's inception into audio, one has to remember the primary purpose was not "great sound forever" (courtesy of Sony) but convenience as it was intended to replace the cassette medium and, although I'm a bit out of date here, I believe people like Harry Pearson will still stand by analog sound from LPs over that from CDs.
