I happen to have just started reading a book "Dino - The Little Ferrari" by Doug Nye - the 246 Dinos were assembled by Fiat with bodies drom Pinifarina and Bertone with engines from Maranello.

Very good book about these beauiful racing and road cars (totally different bodies but similar V6 engines) which I bought along with several other Car books from Bookseller Edward R HAMILTON available on the net altho orders must be made the old fashioned wy - by sending a check - ;-)

I also bought the above Ferrari book along with another Ferrari book and one about the GT40 program as well as 2 very nice books about Brit sports cars -

Sincerely,

AFAIK, the manufacturer was Ferrari, and the model name was Dino, like the 365GTB/4 was known as the Daytona.

There was a Top Gear episode where the three stooges had to buy mid engine Italian exotics for 10,000 quid each. Hammond bought a yellow 308 and proclaimed that he bought a Ferrari for only ten grand. Clarkson told him it was not a Ferrari, and directed the camera to the back of the car, where the badge proudly stated the manufacturer's name as "Dino". No "Ferrari" badge on the back of this one. In USA, and on Magnum, P.I., all the 308 series cars were badged as Ferrari.

Mitch.
