Reminds me of a time when I lived near a small town in central Illinois and the
Chevrolet dealer was Ralph Long. The bankers wife taught English somewhere .
The banker drove Buicks, but he would buy his wife a new Chevrolet every two
years with a signed blank check.
I purchased several cars from him. A 39 Chevy, a 48 Chevy, a 51 Ford, a 55
Chevy 2 door hardtop, and a 60 Chevy 2 door hardtop. Purchased the 55 and the
60 new; did not ask the price; told him to give the paperwork to the banker and
they would set up the payoff.
When I left there in 1960, the banker gave a hand full of blank notes and said
if I needed some money, just fill one out and send it in.
One does not get that kind of honesty dealing with strangers. ADS
