B flat to B is a half-step, B to C is a half-step - so it's a whole step. And the "pitch name" of wind instruments is from the perspective of "concert key", or a piano. So, for the trumpet, it's like he's always a whole step flat. If you tell him to play a "C" what comes out is "B flat". Therefore, to make him play in tune, you have to write his music a whole step sharp. Then when he plays it and it comes out one step flat - everyone is happy! -- Philip _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
