I had my 1981 300SD tranny rebuilt for 2500.00 at local transmission shop. I dropped off the car and picked it up two weeks later.

Though they to came back a day later with replacing it for $3500. Not sure what to do now. Have seen a place that transmissions on craigslist down in Hayward CA am going to give them a call.
