Bead blasting will take off all the dirt and old finish, or at least roughen the surface enough for the new paint to stick. Power washing is a good start. If you don't get it right the first time, you will end up bead blasting 2 coats of paint and clearcoat to do it right the second time. As Larry said, the Bundts have many complex shapes, and are not practical to hand sand. Bead blasting is a good suggestion. Many body shops can do this and some head shops (automotive machine shops, not the Wacko kind) can bead blast for you.

What's the deal on bead blasting? Should I try this at home? How is this
better than using my Home Despot power washer?
