Which reminds me, I saw a Yugo the other day, it was exiting the highway UNDER 
ITS OWN POWER!
It had the upscale trim which I seem to remember was called "Monte Carlo" or 
something equally silly.

The 1970's Fiesta was a reasonable alternative to the Rabbit IMO.
I think they discontinued it about the time the 1981 Escort came out, give or 
take a year or so.

The late 1980's Festiva was made by Kia, noisy, powerful for its weight, and 
reasonably durable, making it a far better choice than a Yugo, even if the 
resale value wasn't any better. Road and Track had pretty much identical 0-60 
times listed for the 318i, the 2.2L Omni, and the Festiva, all with 5sp.
