No fuse I know of. Most likely the voltage regulator though.

The 300E died while the wife was driving it today. Fortunately, she was only
two blocks from the house and friends pushed her home.

I arrived home from work this afternoon to find the hood up and a battery
charger slapped on -- charging. Brother in law, Jeff (who is a "real"
mechanic, unlike me, who is a shade tree mechanic) told Debbie to tell me it
was either an alternator or a fuse.

Is there any such fuse on a 300E?

Second question. BuyMBParts web site shows two alternators, a 60 amp and an
80 amp. Difference is based on "engine range." Where do I get this "engine
range" info? Is it by VIN, by year, or a plate somewhere on the engine?
