Winders stupid startup sound and all its other stupid sounds are
irritating. I turn off sound/speakers etc. most of the time. On
Macs up to OS 9, it was pretty easy to modify/shut off sounds. I
never found Mac sounds so irritating. I know there is a way to
change the winders sounds, but they don't make it easy. On OSX, i am
sure the controls are there, but I have not looked for them. I just
turn the volume down to nothing.
