Yabbut the "bong" sound is a good thing for troubleshooting if you've got a Mac that doesn't want to boot. And how many Windoze machines can you force to boot fro a CD/DVD or to the terminal by simply holding down a key when booting?
While rarely used by most users, I think the diagnostic aspects of the Mac (both hardware and software) make them a heck of a lot easier to troubleshoot or fix than a PC....
