My '77 300D (208K miles only) is now consistantly burning a quart every 300 miles (each fillup). Yesterday, after having barrelled down the freeway at 80 for 25 minutes, the exhaust wafting in my rolled down window on the 115 degree day smelled like Red Adair should be following me.
I wonder how much longer it will run like this? I love this car (like I've loved all my cars), but I'm growing tired of it's quart a fillup habit and the no AC factor.
