My braking has gotten noticably uneven and a bit "grindy" sounding. It
seemed to start after the car had been sitting for a few weeks;
initially I assumed it was just rust on the rotors but it never really
evened out after I started driving the car again. There's also some
noticable pulsation in the pedal.

Less than two years ago I put on new front rotors. Also new calipers,
pads, and hoses all around. Parts from Rusty. I don't recall the brand
of pads but I would guess they were Pagid or maybe PBR. The pads appear
to have about 1/4" or so of material remaining.

Looking at the front rotors, the pads don't seem to be engaging much on
the outer third or so of the diameter. This is more pronounce on the
left than the right. Could this be due to improper or lack of "shims"
under the pads?

The rears I think need new rotors at this point. They are fairly worn
and have some pronounced ridges on the outer half. From what I can
tell, I should be able to tap these off the hubs once the wheel and
caliper are removed is that right? Any recommended brands to use for
these? The web site lists Balo, PBR, ATE, or Brembo.

I'm thinking of putting on new Akebono pads all around, despite the
extra expense.  Comments?
