I suspected as much, but I have never used a mac, and she is just starting to learn on our PCs. I am not at all tech savvy [it skipped a generation]. I'm happy to ship them to someone wanting to give it a shot. One has a zip drive and I have about 20 zip disks here somewhere. BillR

Now that is a lovely old machine. Plenty fast with Mac OS 9, and there's even a web page detailing step-by-step how to set up Wi-Fi with an original AirPort card: http://www.penmachine.com/techie/airport1400.html They'll run Linux too: http://www.anytux.org/hardware.php?system_id=162 If you're looking for a basic web surfing machine, I suppose these are pretty much obsoleted by the many sub-$300 netbooks out there---on the other hand, the old PowerBook keyboards are wonderful, so they make great portable word processors or note-takers for kids in college (and in the latter case, no need to worry about it being stolen or lost since you can always pick up another one for free or close to it).
