I've just set up a ~60 year-old Craftsman drill press to do some fairly accurate drilling (for mods to my 7X12 lathe), only to find that the motor (which hasn't been run for about 15 years) is seized up. I assume that the bearing grease has turned to concrete. Any good tips out there how to go about getting this old workhorse going again? It looks like there are 4 screws holding in a bearing retainer on each end. Dismount the motor, take off pulleys, loosen caps, clean and repack bearings???
Any gotchas I need to watch out for? TIA for any help here!
