If it's a capacitor-start motor, there will be a centrifugal switch
actuated by weight(s) on the rotor; you'll need to be careful of the
linkage when you take it apart.

You will need to determine if the bearing grease has gotten extremely
thick or if the bearings are frozen. If the former, you might, as Rich
hinted, be able to loosen up the grease by adding back the low-viscosity
components without taking the bearings apart. If the latter, you will have
to get the bearings out to replace them.
