I second that emotion, though in my case it poked a hole in the front pump casting. Took me the longest time to figure out why it wasn't working, I woke up one morning and realized that hole did not belong there. Took awhile for my brain to put the visual of the hole together with the fact that you can't suck much with a big hole there.

When you replace it, make absolutely positive that the locking screw hole is clean and dry, else the screw will come loose and beat the housing and cam to death, and likely also puncture the diaphragm again.
