Kershaw, Gerber and Leatherman are all Oregon products (although some of
their stuff is imported). CRKT is also an Oregon company, although many (if
not all) of their products are made in Taiwan but are of good quality. CRKT
makes the M16 series which are popular among our troops, according to a
buddy just back from Iraq.

Some of the imported knives are now made of good grades of alloy steel. If
these imports are made of good materials, to good engineering design, specs
and QC then they will give good service.

I like SOGs too, both their knives and their multitools (a big
improvement in ergonomics over Leatherman). All are still made in
USA, I believe. So are the more expensive Kershaws---made right here
in Oregon in fact, so I get a warm fuzzy feeling about buying them and
supporting the local economy.
