Thanks for that info. As I stated previously it was the cheapest fare I could get her in Oz to fly from LA to Chicago. Our daughter & her buddies are flying from LA to Minneapolis with US airways, it was also the cheapest we could get.
Anyone flown with them?

Sadly, I fly American all the time. Previous comments on personnel are right on, and this has been true for at least 35 years, but they do get you there, and I've never had any trouble with them or another airline re-scheduling flights due to bad weather or plane problems. Lost my luggage once last Xmas (forgivable -- it was 5F in Chicago with a 40 mph wind blowing, it was below freezing in the terminal, the ground crews were getting literally frozen to the ground and frosbite, and the plane wouldn't start if they were tail to the wind.....). The people at Delta are nicer, but AA surly desk people can usually be "niced" pretty well, so I have no real complaint.

To balance that, they were great when we lost Mom's wallet in Cleveland the other year, leaving her with no ID and ticket, and in a wheelchair.

Better a grump gate agent that gets you where you want to go than a smiler that doesn't!
