It is good form to always replace the prastic ends with the steel
ones anytime you get a new MB Diesel. Even though it is a PITA on OM
603s.
Much better to have that PITA in a controlled environment at a
controlled time rather than having one pop off in a snowstorm on an
interstate 1000 miles from nowhere.
I actually started composing the email in my head and worrying about how
much the new control rod ends would cost...

to CC stalk inputs and kept accelerating. I stepped on the brakes,
thinking that would cancel the tempomat, but when I let off the car

the key, and shifting to neutral, but that was too easy. Tested the
accel pedal with my foot, felt a 'click' as the linkage un-jammed
itself, and normal operation was restored.
There's too much slop in the linkage, I think those plastic ends on
the control rods are the major cause, so I need to order some
replacement bits...
