About 2 years ago I needed to find a cheap reliable replacement for my son's
dead Ford Ranger. All the used imports were priced too high. I researched
Consumer Reports repair frequency stats, and determined that the mid-to-late
90s Crown Vics compared favorably to the better imports. We found a '97
that was being sold ($2100 with about 120K on the clock) so the PO could buy
a Pious. Nice car, gets 18 around town and 24 on the highway. My cousins
in New Jersey say you can get 2-3 bodies in the trunk to bring out to the
Pine Barrens.

I liked it so much that I looked for another for me. Got a '95 loaded LX
for $1450 with 105K on the clock. All service records complete. Leather
(no, NOT MBtex) climate control, digital dash, Rear Air Suspension, tow
package and dual exhaust. It's a decent ride and a great highway cruiser.

Subject: [MBZ] Find A Car/Truck on a Budget

OK, here's the deal:
I may need to find a car/truck in the immediate future with a limited budget
of $5,000-$7,000.  I want to find something as late model as possible, and
ideally a small pickup with a crew cab, Nissan preferred.  If it's a car I
need something that can carry stuff, like a small crossover or a Subaru
Forester or something similar.
No old MBs or fixer-uppers.  I need this to be ready to go, reliable
transportation.
Suggestions (realistic ones, that is) are welcome.
Dan
