They have a little magnetic base/arm thingie too for not much, I think $20 will take care of the whole deal, if even that much. IT's actually not a bad little tool, seems to do what it is supposed to do. Not sure I would trust it for ultra-precise measurements, but how often do you need that? I did some measuring with it on my CNC machine, and it demonstrated repeatability within sub-.001" so I took that to be Good Enough.
