Would using a Jack under the suspension just enough to start lifting
it from the stand be enough?

Biggest thing to remember with suspension work is any links that are
replaced should be tightened with the weight of the car on the
suspension, not with the suspension hanging on jack stands.. Not
sure if this has been said one too many times, but its crucial for a
good result.

If you crawl under, any sign of deteriorated rubber (shreds or center
