When it was new and the trans didn't slip my '96 w/318ci and auto trans would do 20mpg on the highway. I don't think 30mpg would be impossible.
I think the Frito trucks got the 130hp engines but I'm given to understand its not hard to turn them up to 150hp with the stock ip and turbo and 200+ with a replacement ip and turbo. I'd like one in a 1/2 ton International truck. It'd want to be turned up a bit to haul the extra weight around but I think 20mpg would still be possible, an improvement from the stock gasser I'd guess. -Curt Date: Fri, 18 Jun 2010 13:38:40 -0400 From: Mitch Haley <[email protected]> To: Mercedes Discussion List <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [MBZ] Craigslist: Mercedes OM612 in Ford F-150 Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed R A Bennell wrote: > I would like to have the Cummins but really do not need a 3/4 ton or bigger. Same old story. I want a 1/2 ton with > a reasonable diesel and it need not be 7 liters. At one time, Frod was supposed to be developing a V-6 version of that generation of PSD for the F150. I think it was a 4.5L V-6 based on the 6.0, but I don't think the 6.0 proved to be a decent engine to begin with. I used to want a Dakota with the 4B Cummins back when the 2500 had a 6B Cummins in it. I bet if I made one out of a 1996 Dakota, 1996 Frito-Lay truck and a NV5600 tranny I could get at least 30mpg out of it.
