SOUNDS like you got the problems whipped. Congrats!
All reassembled now; R&R coolant temp. (gauge) sensor (the one on
left side of head by IP) and glow plugs; just took 'er for test
drive; previously erratic temp. gauge holds nice and steady at ~85C.
Going now to get 'er washed.

I'm sure some of you already knew it, but I'll bet some others did
not know: R&R intake manifold is a lot easier with 1/4" drive
ratchet and extensions than with 3/8" drive stuff. Removed it with
3/8; put it back with 1/4. ;<))))))
