If you start with a four wheel drive vehicle - you could attach the four
motors to the half shafts, or even directly to the hubs.

After pulling some strong magnets out of a few hard drives, I wondered about
glueing them on the inner inside rim of the alloy wheels, and placing
electro-magnets on a heavier backing plate/dust shield to drive the wheels.
Never got any further than that though.
