Hail damage? No problem, bring your hair dryer and can-o-air, if the you-tube
link shared earlier is to be believed.

I'm seriously considering giving that a shot on my '95, which has a few
dings/dents. I'm wondering if using a heat gun vice a hair dryer would improve
the process, or would that risk damaging the paint? Also, using a non-contact
thermometer to measure temperatures could add an element of control and perhaps
improve successful outcomes.

That's not hail damage, it's an aerodynamic aid, like on a golf ball. heehee
