Yes it only takes out very shallow dents, ones that could easily be
popped out by hand if you can get to them. PDR is the way to go really,
The tools arent cheap :

You could easily practice on cars at the junkyard...

Hair drier. I _think_ the basic idea is to heat up the area of the dent and
some of the surrounding metal, and then cool the metal immediately around the
dent These two steps provide (1) an expanding force from the middle of the dent
from the hot metal and (2) a contracting force around the dent from cooling the
metal, which stretches the metal. Between the two forces, the dent pops out.
Or maybe it should be the other way around: heat the surrounding area, then cool
just the middle of the dent. The videos seemed to show folks doing it both
ways.
The handful of youtube videos seemed to show that if the original surface is
convex, the process works pretty well, but results on flat surfaces were not as
impressive. In addition, the metal should not be creased, according to one
comment.

did they use a hair drier in the video or a heat gun?

Hail damage? No problem, bring your hair dryer and can-o-air, if the you-tube
link shared earlier is to be believed.
I'm seriously considering giving that a shot on my '95, which has a few
dings/dents. I'm wondering if using a heat gun vice a hair dryer would
improve
the process, or would that risk damaging the paint? Also, using a non-contact
thermometer to measure temperatures could add an element of control and
perhaps
improve successful outcomes.
