A lift is still only as safe as the operator of it is, so I get a bit paranoid about the safety...
I un-load the suspension, lift a foot off the ground, then literally try to shake it off the lift. If it moves too much, the arms are positioned again, even if it means ignoring the "factory" lift points for more stable ones. If it's off-balance, lead ingots bring it back. Only when it's solid and balanced does it go any higher.
