In my case one side had visible rust staining seeping through cracks in the paint. The other side had no visual indication of rust but there was plenty of it underneath the paint and adhesive goo they smeared over things. When I poked around hard enough the paint peeled off. The goo took a bit of work because they used so much.
Since then the rusting has increased logarithmically on the rest of the car. It is impossible to keep up with it.
