'Nother reminder of why I've become so distrustful of "help." 'Hard to find anybody interested in doing things RIGHT. Too many want to do a half a$$ job, get their money and run.

Ja, I tried that maybe 10 years ago after we put the 2.4 in the 200D. THe muffler fell of and got lost, so I told #1 son to take it to the "lifetime guarantee" muffler shop because they would replace it for as long as he owned the car. BIG mistake. Now it has a too short, too fat muffler with tooo small an outlet that they made sit wrong in the space (angled up, not level). Every time I see it I get mad that those bozos are almost as stupid as stealership parts changers.

I recommend changing it yourself if you physically can.

Oh man. Each time I do an exhaust system, I say I'm never going to do it
again and I'd rather just pay someone. But somehow, I just keep doing them.

Tried that, didn't work on either exhaust...

On the trashed one I cut grooves in the pipe and peeled it like a banana.
Then drove the remnant off with a screwdriver and BFH. Oh what fun!

Its too late for this advice, but in the past I was able to break and
exhaust system free from the manifold by dropping it down off of all the rubber hangers and swinging it side to side a bit from the end at the back
of the car. The torque on that length of pipe is huge.

Just don't go too crazy or you might break the exhaust manifold. But this is unlikely since the weakest point should still be the joint between the
 manifold and exhaust pipe.

Of course, soaking it with lots of penetrating oil first is necessary.
